We arrest pregnant women on minor traffic violations and make them labor and deliver a child while shackled to a hospital bed. [Can you imagine the uproar if such a thing happened to a U.S. citizen in Mexico? Honestly.]

Such a thing would NOT happen because Americans go to Mexico legally. BUT, if such a thing did happen to one there illegally, I doubt there would be much of an uproar. Anyone here illegally ought to encounter harsh rebuke from all Americans, especially those legal immigrants. They ought get 0 help from us, 0 help from government except a free ride back to where they come from.
That’s my story and I am sticking to it!

The coalition opposed to the referendum is using grassroots tactics to make sure enough people who are opposed to this go to vote. Whether you use email, Facebook, twitter or the phone, please remind the people you know how important this is. Since we have early voting in Nashville, there’s no excuse not to vote!

Bob, I certainly agree that people who are committing felonies/violent crimes should be dealt with appropriately by the justice system.

However, I also think that our current immigration laws are wrong-headed and out of date. It’s too hard for many businesses to find the labor they need [in good economic times] legally. It’s too hard for families divided by borders to reunite. It’s too hard for us to attract skilled workers from other countries. So, I can’t argue for a hard line on immigration itself, since I think our immigration system is so broken.
